Geography
Suriname is a county that is located at the top of South America. Suriname is known for the tropical rainforests that cover 90% of the country. The thick rainforests are filled with tons of exotic animals and natural resources such as timber, hydropower, fish, kaolin, shrimp, bauxite, gold, and small amounts of copper, nickel, platinum, and iron ore. The shoreline stretches 386 km on the northern side of Suriname. Suriname is bordered by French Guiana in the East, Guyana in the West, and Brazil in the South. Suriname can be divided into four major regions: The Coastal Belt, The Intermediate Plain, an area of mountainous rainforest, and a High Savanna. The weather in Suriname varies pretty slightly among the two main seasons the dry and wet seasons. The dry season lasts from August to November and from February to April and the wet season lasts from April to August and from November to February. The annual average rainfall in Paramaribo Suriname's capital is 2,200 mm. Suriname is a tropical rainforest known for the beautiful animals that fill them.
