Which includes Indian 27.4%, Maroon 21.7%, Creole 15.7%, Javanese 13.7%, mixed 13.4%, other 7.6%, unspecified 0.6%. The main ethnic group, Indian is a blend of Hindi and Urdu. Hindi this a language that is from northern India and more than 250 million people speak it as their first language. Urdu is also a language from India that originated around the 12th century and was influenced by Arabic, Persian, and Turkish which are languages that are from the Middle East. Another large ethnic group is Maroon. Maroon is an ethnic group that came from Africa. Maroon found its way to Suriname through the Dutch bringing slaves to Suriname to work on sugar, coffee, and cotton. The final large ethnic group is Creole. Creole is an ethnic group that is a mix between white and black. This was probably due to the constant waves of slaves that the Dutch were bringing at the time. Suriname was a center point for the Dutch and because of this it has extremely unique ethnic groups.
